We check out of the Doubletree Downtown Lakeside and start driving West — and as close to Lake Erie as possible. Our first stop of the day is Edgewater Park, which provides a view over the water of downtown Cleveland. Our lunch choice is the nearby Tick Tock Tavern, known for their BBQ ribs and chicken. Next, we stop at Lakewood Park, one of the largest lakefront parks in Ohio, featuring a live sound stage, followed by Rocky River Park. We follow U.S. 6 along Lake Erie until we reach Vermilion, where we stop for Happy Hour at Quaker Steak and Lube (left), located on the east bank of the Vermilion River. We continue along U.S. 6 before stopping to eat at The Angry Bull Steakhouse. Our lodging choice is the River’s Edge Inn, located in Huron and as one would suspect from the name, overlooking the river.
